About
Hi I am Alana, a social worker in private practice. I have been a social worker for 10 years and have worked across frontline, statutory, complex case teams, and specialised therapeutic roles.
I support people recovering from trauma in many forms, including single-incident trauma, critical incidents, workplace, complex and childhood trauma, cumulative stress, burnout, and life disruptions. Therapy focuses on helping people regain a sense of safety and control, process what they’ve experienced, and move toward healing at a pace that feels sustainable.
I’m married to a police officer and am a mum to two toddlers. As I understand the practical realities of service life such as shift work, time apart, and the impact of work stress at home, working with emergency services, veterans and their families has been a focus point in the work that I do. I support our frontline in achieving long-term wellbeing and balance, both professionally and personally.
I also host a local partners of first responders group to foster connection and reduce isolation for families.
I support parents and caregivers, with a focus on perinatal mental health and matrescence, helping families navigate identity changes and build systems that support them in return.
Outside of sessions, I am committed to ongoing professional development, I have a magnificent veggie patch, a pug, I read one book per month and have a passion for heath and fitness.
